Social media vehicles are certainly changing the way we go to market. The ability to push and receive information can be invaluable to a brand. However, the opportunity to make a sale shouldn't be lost on the brand.
Sometimes, often times, we see strategies that pump up the brand, but don't close the deal. Yes, one benefit of branding is that ultimately the brand sells itself. But, we must also realize that there are competitive brands that may be doing a good job as well. As such, we still have to ask for the sale - whether that is face-to-face, through promotions, or on our website. Selling is still perhaps the most important discipline in marketing. Don't leave deals on the table.
