Don't Just Recycle, Reuse!

What do you do with your wasted copier paper, especially the paper that was printed on only one side? Shoot hoops at the nearest trash can? Shred it? Hire a company to shred it?

How often do you throw away a piece of paper because of a single typo, or perhaps the color is slightly off?

As Graphic Designers, we often need to print several single sided "proofs" for any given project. Wasted single sided prints pile up fast. Now, we are a long shot from tree-huggin hippies, but I can't help but feel a bit wasteful for trashing paper when it still has a perfectly usable side.

Lets just say that we like being efficient and maximizing the mighty dollar.

Here's how you can too:

1. Instead of recycling all of your proofs, separate the double-sided prints from the single-sided prints.

2. Take the single-sided prints and make stacks of 20 to 50 sheets (more or less depending on your stapler).

3. Staple the stacks along the top or along one side and…

BAM!

Instant notepads or sketch pads!

See? You just saved $$$ on notepads, recycling equipment and services. But most importantly, you used all of that paper you paid for!

The lesson is simple: You don’t have to be a militant environmentalist to make a difference. If you want to help the earth and maximize your budget, don’t just recycle. Reuse!
