On an unseasonably cold day, almost 1,500 bowls of chili were served, and VI raised $4,200 for 90-minutes of fun on the streets of downtown Oklahoma City.

“It was another great year, a record year,” said VI Partner and Creative Director Steve Sturges. “Thanks go to all the restaurants, the band, the VI team and all the chili makers and volunteers who donated time and services that ensure the success of this great annual event.”

VI Marketing and Branding will present the United Way of Oklahoma City a check for $4,200 this week.

The winner of the professional division (restaurants) and the 2014 Carne Cup, was the Range Café (at Wilshire Gun) for its “Smokin’ Gun” bison chili. The Range Café makes three winners in three years of the traveling Carne Cup, joining champs Rococo Restaurants & Catering (2012) and The Oklahoman Food Editor Dave “the food dude” Cathey (2013).

The amateur division champ was Robbie Repola, VI Creative Producer for his “Great Green Gobs” chili extraordinaire.

A sign that appeared in an office window high above Park Avenue summed up the event quite well. It read “Every Friday Please” and we couldn’t agree more.
